GOWANUS PARK POLL
Gowanuslands.org led a community crowd-funding drive to commission a public opinion poll on parks and open space in Gowanus. Polling was conducted by Change Research, a Public Benefit Corporation, in March 2021. Change Research applied its proprietary Dynamic Online Sampling Engine to yield a representative sample using Census data for the Gowanus neighborhood and Brooklyn Community Board 6 as a reference. The sample size was 216 adult residents with a margin of error of 7.6%. Weighting was on gender, race/ethnicity, age, partisanship, and education.
Key Findings:
91% of residents think it is very important for NYC neighborhoods to have parks and open space
85% of residents think NYC should create more open space in the Gowanus neighborhood
90% of residents support turning Public Place into a park in line with the original vision for the site
